Your First Visit to Elixir Lounge: What to Expect

First time at a kava bar? Welcome — you're going to fit right in. Elixir Lounge is an alcohol-free bar and lounge at 206 Main St in Old Town Spring, TX, open seven nights a week for guests 18 and up. Here's everything to know before you walk in.

Step One: Order a Shell

Kava is traditionally served in a coconut shell, and we keep the tradition alive. Walk up to the bar, ask the bartender what they recommend, and order a shell. Kava is made the way it has been in the South Pacific for thousands of years: the ground root of Piper methysticum — a plant in the pepper family — is kneaded with water and strained. Expect an earthy, peppery flavor; it's an acquired taste, and the pineapple slice on the bar is there for a reason.

Before you sip, raise your shell and say "Bula!" — the Fijian toast you'll hear all night.

Can't Decide? Order a Flight

Our kava and elixir flights let you try four flavors for $16.50 — the classic first-timer move, and the fastest way to find your standing order. Not feeling kava tonight? The menu also has Elixir Tea (our house draft, served in a tiki glass), kombucha, and plenty of other alcohol-free options.

Come for Happy Hour

Monday through Wednesday, 4–7pm: $3 single shells, $6 double shells, and $8 loaded lixirs. It's the best window for a low-stakes first visit.

House Etiquette

  • 18+ only. Bring your ID.
  • No alcohol. Everything we pour is alcohol-free — and yes, that means zero hangover tomorrow.
  • Settle in. This isn't a rush-through kind of bar. Grab a seat, join a conversation, challenge someone to a board game, stay a while.
  • Everyone's welcome. Regulars, first-timers, the kava-curious — no judgment, no pressure.
